Hey guys. I’m big on quotes and poetry so this is where I will post a lot of the words that I come across on a day to day basis. Language is powerful and can be beautiful. If you have any favorites, send me some and it might wind up here. There is no purpose to this. It’s just a place where pieces of stories can come together and create something that might touch someone. That is all I can hope for…

“So, I guess we are who we are for a lot of reasons. And maybe we’ll never know most of them. But even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. We can still do things. And we can try to feel okay about them.”

“Take me to the docks, there’s a ship without a name there,
And it is sailing to the middle of the sea
The water there is deeper than anything you’ve ever seen
Jump right in and swim until you’re free…”

“All around, Hope is springing up from this old ground,
Out of chaos life is being found in You…”

“How can anyone remain a spectator indefinitely? How can one continue to embrace the woman he loves, to pray to God with fervor if not faith, to dream of a better tomorrow- after having seen that. Between victims and executioners there is a mysterious bond; they belong to the same universe; one is the negation of the other. The spectator is entirely beyond us.”

“I just hope I remember to tell my kids that they are as happy as I look in my old photographs. And I hope that they believe me.”

“Instead of hating the people you think are war-makers, hate the appetites and the disorder in your own soul, which are the causes of war.”

“I can see it. This one moment when you know you’re not a sad story. You are alive, and you stand up and see the lights on the buildings and everything that makes you wonder. And you’re listening to that song on that drive with the people you love most in this world. And in this moment I swear, we are infinite.”

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it…always.”

“The sun never says to the earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky.”

“No matter what you do to me, I will not give you the power to make me hate.”

“Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you; you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for.”

“Be kinder than necessary, because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.”

“You can’t give up hope just because it’s hopeless. You have to hope even harder, cover your ears, and go ‘blah blah blah blah blah!'”
“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the saying, ‘”I will try again tomorrow.'”

“I see a beautiful city and a brilliant people rising from this abyss, and, in their struggles to be truly free, in their triumphs and defeats, through long long years to come, I see the evil of this time and of the previous time of which this is the natural birth, gradually making expiation for itself and dying.”

“Yet high over the city our line of yellow windows must have contributed their share of human secrecy to the casual watcher in the darkening streets, and I was him too, looking up and wondering. I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.”

“A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness.”
